Lovely Old French Antique Painted Wooden Firkin Sugar Bucket. Circa 1800's
Lovely old firkin sugar bucket.
French from the 1800's; possibly earlier.
Wonderfully simple design, green painted wood, hand coopered into shape and detailed with hand riveted iron hoops.
The patina of the finish; to what is probably the original paint; is sublime, a truely authentic French decorative piece; full of charm and charisma.
Used back in the say as a sugar bucket.
Many many uses in the modern home.
Sourced personally in the Bretagne region of France.
Approx. max.dims: H; 345mm, Top Dia: 130mm, Base Dia: 190mm
In very good antique condition. A few bumps and scrapes to the paintwork as one might expect. The wooden slats are a little loose so this isn't watertight but of course can be lined to make a terrifically unique planter.
A rare French find.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
