French Antique Terracotta Walnut Oil Jug. 18th Century.

Fabulous antique walnut oil jar.
French from around the mid to late 18th century.
Hand thrown terracotta with a beautiful partial green glaze; delivering warm, earthy tones.
Typically bulbous with large handles for carrying and small spout for controlled pouring.
Traditionally there were three handles, but on this particular piece, one of the handles is missing.
As a display piece, the jug can be positioned; as in the photos; in such a way that the missing handle isn't noticeable.
It's still a fabulous authentic piece of French living; makes a totally unique vase.
Personally selected from the Pays de la Loire region of France.
Approx. max. dims: H: 360mm, Dia: 340mm
In very good antique, as found condition. Missing handle as mentioned and shown, a few minor bumps and knocks as one might expect but nothing that detracts from the beauty of this authentic antique.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
