Antique French Provincial Folding Library Chair / Stepladder. Circa 1880's.
What to say about this fabulous find.
A tall and solidly-built beechwood, folding French Provincial chair/ library-stepladder from Northern France.
This late 19th century chair is hinged at the seat level, and when unfolded becomes a useful stepladder.
Area of Picardie, circa 1880.
A real piece of French living.
Approx max Dims:
As a chair: H: 1090mm, W: 390mm, D: 440mm, SH: 550mm
As a Ladder: H: 1090mm, W: 390mm, D: 620mm
Folds easily and locked in place with fixed metal supports; very sturdy.
In excellent antique condition. Solid and robust in either form. A few bumps and scrapes perhaps as one might expect but nothing noteworthy.
A truely fascinating piece.
