Antique French Walnut Oil Jug, Circa 18th Century.
What a fabulous find this is; incredibly rare!
French antique walnut oil jug with original wooden stopper, linen liner to the top; and long whittled bung to the spout.
Exactly as it would have looked back in the mid to late 18th century.
You can even smell the walnut oil on the linen still.
Made in terracotta; this functional jug would be used traditionally to preserve, store and pour walnut oil.
Wonderful patination, texture and colour!
Today they exist as magical decorative pieces; usually as vases or planters; but this beauty; sits majestically in her own right!
As she always has!

In excellent antique, as found condition. No signs of damage or repair; this beautiful piece is a decorators dream.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
