Antique French Terracotta Salting Pot or 'Ponne'. 18th Century

A magnificent terracotta salting pot or 'Ponne'.
French from the 1700's.
Traditionally used for salting foodstuffs; primarily pork for preservation.
Great proportions with a beautiful patina developed over the centuries.
Heavy pot this, make a fabulously unique planter for the modern home. 
Sourced personally from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.
Approx. max. dims: H: 42cm, Dia: 45cm, including handles: 54cm.
In excellent antique; as found condition. Maybe the odd very small nibble to the terracotta here and there as one might expect; but nothing noteworthy. Stunning piece.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
