Antique French Glazed Stoneware Crock or Confit Pot. Circa late 1800's.
Fabulous stoneware crock or confit pot.
French from around the mid to late 1800's.
Terracotta with two handles and a lid; finished in a deep brown glaze.
Wonderfully proportioned; this is a decorators dream.
Originally used for storing foodstuffs; such as preserved meat (confit) or grains; they are now on-trend as highly decorative rustic farmhouse pieces in their own right.
Personally sourced in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.
Approx. max. dims: H: 300mm, Dia: 220mm
In excellent antique; as found condition. Very slight historical 'production' marks as shown but nothing that detracts from the beauty of this amazing pot.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
