Antique French Faience 'Allumettes' or Matches Storage Canister. Early 1900's.
Lovely little kitchen storage pottery 'canister' this.
Hard to find and rare to come across these days; especially in such excellent original condition.
'Allumettes'; translating to 'matches'.
French, from the early part of the 1900's.
Faience pottery with floral decoration; highlighted with a gold gilt finish; deep crazing; quite exquisite!
Original wooden lid.
Can free stand or wall hang.
Personally sourced from the Normandie region of France; renowned for faience pottery.
Approx. max.dims : H: 130mm, W: 140mm, D: 95mm
In excellent antique; as found condition. No signs of damage or repair.
I have the matching 'Sel' or Salt cellar; available too as shown in the last photo; happy to offer a deal for the two; please get in touch.
This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
