Antique French Earthenware Salt-Glazed Pitcher. 19th Century.

Antique French Earthenware Salt-Glazed Pitcher. 19th Century.

£169.00Price

Beautiful glazed pitcher or jug

French from around the mid to late 1800's.

Traditional earthenware, salt-glazed to provide wonderful earthy tones to this beautifully decorative piece.

Made with three handles and a small spout, these pitchers were originally used to store and serve water, wines and oils in the traditional French home.

Nowadays they make great decorative pieces in their own rights but also show fabulously as vases for dried flowers and the like.

Just stunning.

Approx. max. dims: H:340mm, Dia:  260mm

In excellent antique; as found condition. A few original imperfections to the pitcher as one might expect but no damage or repairs.

This is an original antique and may well show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
